<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor which makes coding distortion visually inconspicuous while maintaining an acute feeling of an image. <P>SOLUTION: The image processor of this invention is equipped with: an activity calculation means (1) for dividing an input image into a plurality of blocks and outputting activity information representing a degree of dispersion of pixel values of each block; a motion detection means (2) for outputting motion vector information of each pixel to be interpolated and an interpolation pixel value between frames, respectively from before and after fields in time; a motion dispersion degree calculation part (5) for calculating a motion dispersion degree by per block from motion vectors of each pixel to be outputted from the motion detection means and outputting motion dispersion degree information; and an area division means (6) for outputting area division information dividing areas where both of the degree of dispersion and the motion dispersion degree of the pixel values exceed respective predetermined thresholds and do not exceed the thresholds. Then, the coding distortion is reduced by selectively applying motion compensation processing to an area where the coding distortion is likely to be easily generated using the area division information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
