<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source apparatus and a projector where more LEDs are used as light sources and emitted light is more effectively used as projection light. <P>SOLUTION: The light source apparatus includes; a truncated pyramid type light source housing 40 having an inclined surface 41 as a dichroic mirror which transmits light of a wavelength <600nm, and reflects light of a wavelength≥600nm, the inclined surface 42 placed opposite to the 1st inclined surface 41, as a dichroic mirror which transmits light of a wavelength≥600nm, and reflects light of a wavelength <600nm, and also, having third and fourth inclined surfaces placed opposite to each other, and adjacent to the inclined surfaces 41 and 42, and whose inside surfaces are constituted of a total reflection mirror; green and blue LEDs 43G and 43B arranged on the outer surface of the first inclined surface 41 so that the outgoing light may directly exit from the lower bottom opening of the housing or so that the outgoing light may exit after being reflected by the second inclined surface 42 once; and red LEDs 44R and 44R arranged on the outer surface of the second inclined surface 42 so that the outgoing light may directly exit from the lower bottom opening of the housing or so that the outgoing light may exit from the lower bottom opening after being reflected by the first inclined surface 41 once. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
