PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device capable of reducing rattles at a journal portion during usual driving operation, and extremely reducing sliding resistance during collapse movement of a column to a vehicle front side after the column is separated from a vehicle body due to an impact upon a secondary collision. SOLUTION: An impact load toward a vehicle body rear side works on a lower side steering shaft 7 upon a primary collision, a push nut 38 moves toward a vehicle body front side along an outer periphery portion 72 and reaches an outer periphery portion 74 of small diameter when the impact load reaches a separation load of the push nut 38, and a press-in condition of the push nut 38 to the lower side steering shaft 7 is released. The press-in condition of the push nut 38 to the lower side steering shaft 7 is released upon the primary collision, therefore, the sliding resistance is extremely small during the collapse movement toward the vehicle body front side after an upper part bracket 1 is separated from the vehicle body 18 upon a secondary collision, thus performing smooth collapse movement.
