There are provided an image display system, a terminal device, an image display method, and a program capable of controlling an image to be displayed on a screen of partner terminal with whom a user is talking and reducing the line transmission capacity by using a simple circuit configuration. A user has a terminal device (100) which transmits data associated switching of an image displayed on a terminal device (200) of a partner via a network (500) by using an e-mail, a multi-call function, or identifying audio. According to the various information received, the terminal device (200) switches/controls the image associated with the terminal device (100) in the terminal device (200).
