The panel (1) for a floor, wall or ceiling covering comprises a panel element (2) with longitudinal sides (3,4) and end sides (5,6), and with an adhesive layer for connecting to a foundation, and at least one outer, removable protective covering (8) provided on the adhesive layer. At least one pull-off tab (15,16) which is connected to the protective covering projects to the side beyond a longitudinal side, with a gripping section (17,18) on its free end. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a tool for pulling off the protective covering of an adhesive layer of a panel; (2) a covering for preferably a floor, wall or ceiling, with a number of the aforesaid panels; and (3) a method for laying a covering for especially a floor, wall or ceiling comprising a number of the aforesaid panels.
