The hydraulic machine has a labyrinth seal between the fixed and moving components. The seal includes a number of annular chambers (9.1, 9.2, 9.3) with annular gap channels (10.1, 10.2, 10.3) of rectangular or square cross section connecting them to divert the leakage by more than 90[deg]. The connecting channels linking the same chambers are offset from each other.
