Cryopreservation method for bivalve oocytes

Disclosed is a method of cryopreserving bivalve shellfish oocytes, including the steps of: (a) Preparing a solution comprising 5-50% v/v of a cryoprotectant in water to give a cryoprotectant solution; (b) Combining the oocytes with the cryoprotectant solution to give an oocyte mixture; (c) Carrying out a first cooling of the oocyte mixture at a rate of about 0.1° C min-1 to 20° C min-1 to a temperature of about -4° C to -20° C; (d) Carrying out a second cooling of the oocyte mixture at a rate of about 0.1° C min-1 to 2.5° C min-1 to a temperature of about -25° to -55° C.
