A gateway server sends a menu to a mobile terminal via a first network so that the mobile can use the menu to request location related information. A request for location related information is sent from the mobile to the gateway server which passes the request on, together with an area code, obtained from a communication area identifier recognised for communication with the mobile using the first network, to an information provider server via a second communication network. The information provider network uses the area code to obtain the location related information regarding a geographical area associated with the area code and transmits the location related information to the gateway server which in turn serves the information to the requesting mobile.
