PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chair having a simple constitution with high design property and facilitating the attachment/detachment of a backrest and the adjustment of its height position. SOLUTION: The chair is provided with a plurality of through-holes 2a, 2b and 2c in a support 2 raised at the center in the back of a seat part 1, the backrest 3 is provided with backrest locking devices 4 each composed of a rod member and a string member, the rod member is passed through the through-hole, and its both ends are made to abut on a flat part on the circumferential edge of the through-hole in the support 2, so that the backrest 3 is attached to the support 2.
