The heat exchanger, associated with a gas or fuel oil burner ( 6 ), comprises at least one tubular array ( 2 ) through which a fluid to be heated, particularly cold water, circulates and which is mounted inside a jacket ( 1 ) which is impermeable to gases, said tubular array ( 2 ) being exposed to hot gases generated by the burner ( 6 ), whereas the jacket ( 1 ) comprises a sleeve ( 122 ) for evacuating vapors. The device is characterized in that the jacket ( 1 ) has a wall portion which is embodied in the form of a compartment ( 11, 12 ) accommodating a gas/air ( 9 ) collector heat exchanger enabling part of the heat carried by the fumes exiting from the tubular array ( 2 ) to be collected, being displaced towards the exit sleeve ( 122 ) in order to transfer it to air captured inside the heat exchanger, whereby means such as a ventilator (V) are also provided in order to transfer air which is heated by the gas/air heat collector to the entrance of the burner ( 6 ). The condensation exchanger, particularly designed for domestic use, enables cold and dry vapors to be discharged into the atmosphere and supplies the burner with clean, pre-heated combustion air.
