In a system to prevent damaging gas components depositing on floating glass, an injector pump (5) extracts a given volume of gas from a gas zone (1) to prevent contact with the ambient atmosphere. The extracted gas is passed through a glass wadding dust separation stage (3) and then to a second separation stage (4) using active carbon. The cleaned gas is returned as an inert gas.
