OPTICAL FIBER SENSOR

An optical fiber sensor which can detect the liquid level or the properties of liquid with high reliability even in an environment subjected to vibrations. The optical fiber sensor comprises an optical fiber consisting of a core having a grating region and a clad with at least a part of the grating region being located at a position immersed in a liquid, a light source for having a light in the clad mode wavelength band of the grating region enter the optical fiber, and a light receiving section for detecting the intensity of the light entering the optical fiber and transmitting through the grating. The optical fiber sensor is used for detecting the liquid level or the properties of liquid.
