<p>A character call terminal for the hearing impaired and a transmission/reception method are provided to allow the hearing impaired to perform a text call communication with a mobile terminal or a VoIP terminal of the other party by using a text call function without changing a communication system. A user unit(20) inputs a control command for a text call or a character desired to be sent by a user, and displays it. A text encoder unit(42) encodes characters received from the user into a format required by a text call standard for the hearing impaired. A text decoder unit(44) extracts the characters from the encoded format and decodes them. A text call controller(50) controls a text call vocoder unit(40) to perform text call communication. A physical layer unit(60) transfers text information. A voice matching unit(10) digitizes an analog voice of the user. A voice decoder unit(30) encodes the digitized voice information or decodes the encoded voice information.</p> |
