A flow meter for regulating and monitoring the flow of sealing fluid to be conducted to a seal of a rotating shaft includes a sealing fluid metering channel 3, a sealing fluid inlet 4, a connection 5 and a regulating and monitoring mechanism 10, 12, 14. A non-return valve 21 prevents sealing fluid from flowing back to the flow meter. Sealing fluid flows through an opening 13 and a cleaning means 17 which is movable by actuating means 16, 18. The non-return valve 21 is arranged as an extension of metering channel 3, and a metering cone 10 is in mechanical contact with non-return valve 21.
