<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inorganic powder composite material that comprises fine inorganic particles and is easily dispersible in water and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The inorganic powder composite material comprises fine particles of inorganic substance, a carboxylic acid derivative represented by general formula (1) RCOOX (R is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an alkenyl group which may contain a carboxy group or a hydroxy group; X is hydrogen, an alkali metal or a≤23C polyoxyethylene) and/or a carboxylic acid derivative polymer as constituent elements. The inorganic powder composite material is precipitated by reacting the carboxylic acid derivative with a metal salt in an organic solvent-containing aqueous solvent.
