PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for controlling the airflow in motor-cooling means that can obtain energy-saving effect. SOLUTION: The airflow control system 100 for motor cooling means includes a motor 4 having winding 7, a motor cooling means 1 for cooling the motor 4, a driving means 2, 3 for driving the motor-cooling means 1, and a control means 5 for controlling the driving means 2, 3. The airflow control system 100 further includes a temperature-detecting means 6 for detecting the ambient temperature 6, and a current detecting means 8 for detecting information on the load on the winding 7. The operation of the driving means 2, 3 is controlled via a controlling expression including multiple terms. The controlling expression includes as parameters the temperature of the winding 7, the temperature time constant of the motor 4, the ambient temperature detected by the temperature-detecting mean 6, the root-mean-square value RMS of a motor load current, that can be computed by using a current value detected by the current-detecting means 8, and the airflow of the motor-cooling means 1.
