PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system and key transmitting method for enabling portable communication equipment to change keys without requiring particular computer resources and without performing a particular operation. SOLUTION: Fixed type communication equipment 2 is provided with a charging part 28 for charging a secondary battery 18 of the portable communication equipment 1, the fixed type communication equipment 2 is provided with a key preparing part 25 for preparing a new key (S163) when the charging part 28 starts charging the secondary battery 18 (S15: YES), the portable communication equipment 1 is provided with a neighboring communication interface 11 for transmitting/receiving a common key to/from the prepared key (S69/S167), and the fixed type communication equipment 2 is provided with a neighboring communication interface 24 for transmission/reception of the common key. Since keys are changed by a charging operation in this way, it is unnecessary to have a particular computer resources such as computer resources for preparing a key every prescribed period in portable communication equipment to be connected to a WAN, and keys can be changed without performing particular operation other than a charging operation.
