VARIABLE VALVE OPERATING DEVICE OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable valve operating device of an internal combustion engine capable of inhibiting enlargement and weight increase of a valve lift variable mechanism and reducing labor hour of the assembly. SOLUTION: A support guide portion 32 formed on an output arm 18 of the valve lift variable mechanism 14 is inserted in a hole 31 in a vertical wall portion 45 so that the valve lift variable mechanism 14 is supported on the vertical wall portion 45 by the support guide portion 32. The support guide portion 32 serves also to guide axial displacement of a control shaft 16 passing though an inside and the valve lift variable mechanism 14 is driven through the axial displacement of the shaft 16. The support of the valve lift variable mechanism 14 and the guide of the axial displacement of the control shaft 16 are thus realized by the support guide portion 32 and there is no need to provide a pipe-shaped rocker shaft for realizing them outside of the control shaft 16.
