A method and an apparatus for inputting characters in a terminal are provided to supply plural and virtual character sets on a display screen, thereby increasing characters which can be inputted and reducing time required to input the characters. A method for inputting characters in a terminal comprises the following steps of: displaying at least one or more keyboard sets(102,103,104) on a part of a display screen; selecting a specific keyboard set among the keyboard sets(102,103,104); selecting a specific character from the selected keyboard set; and inputting the selected character. In the keyboard sets(102,103,104), one or more keyboards(105) are arrayed. In the keyboard(105), the first character and the second character are assigned. The array of the keyboard(105) is the same as key button array of a keypad(130) installed in the terminal. |
