A papermaking assembly is fed by a suspension of fibers in liquid. The fibers are floated to the surface under the influence of downward-directed jets (1) directed into the open end of a pipe (7) from which the jet is separated by a gap for incoming gas, especially air. The inner diameter of the jet is smaller than that of the adjacent pipe, from which it is separated by a gap. The final pipe is semi-submerged within the fiber suspension.
