A steam generation control method of a washing machine is provided to improve judging accuracy even at a water level sensing border where a change of water level suddenly occurs, and to improve reliability, safety, and using convenience by preventing defective operation according to erroneous water-level sensing. A steam generation control method of a washing machine comprises the steps of: sensing water level of water supplied to a steam generator(S502); and judging the water level again after a preset time period passes when the sensed result is in a range between a highest standard value and a lowest standard value(S503). When the sensed result is over the highest standard value(S505), it is judged that supplied water in the steam generator is insufficient(S506). When the sensed result is under the lowest standard value, it is judged that the supplied water in the steam generator is sufficient(S508).
