<p>A networked collection of environmental telemetry sensors 10, 11, 12, 13........ use data derived from received wireless signals both for supporting data communications and for characterisation of environmental phenomena. The sensors are arranged to float in the ocean and form an ad hoc communications network to exchange oceanographic data with each other. Ocean waves cause attenuation or other impairments of the signals transmitted between the sensors, which result in measurable impairment to the signals received by each transceiver. Such impairment is measured by the individual transceivers and collected as environmental data.</p> |
