摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and highly efficiently produce an alkylcyclohexanol alkylene oxide adduct which scarcely contains an alkylphenol starting substance and an alkylphenol alkylene oxide adduct derived from the alkylphenol, has a narrow addition distribution even in the case the addition quantity of the alkylene oxide is high, and is therefore in a liquid state at normal temperature and useful as a surfactant. SOLUTION: This production method comprises a process of obtaining an alkylcyclohexanol by hydrogenation of the nucleus of an alkylphenol, removing unreacted alkylphenol and hydrogenation decomposition products by distilling nucleus hydrogenation products, carrying out addition reaction of an alkylene oxide to the alkylcyclohexanol in the presence of an acid catalyst, and removing unreacted alkylcyclohexanol by distilling obtained products mainly containing alkylcyclohexanol alkylene oxide adduct.
