Disclosed is an organic EL device having a multilayer structure wherein at least an anode (2), a first light-emitting layer (5), a hole blocking layer (6), a second light- emitting layer (7) and a cathode (9) are arranged in this order. In this organic EL device, the first light-emitting layer (5) and the second light-emitting layer (7) are both composed of a hole-transporting material. This organic EL device has high luminous efficiency and less color change.
