A sliding type portable device is provided to optimize an interfacing environment in a mode, wanted by a user, among a communication mode, a camera mode or an MP3 mode by performing opening/closing operation of a sliding housing. A sliding type portable device comprises a main body housing and a sliding housing(200). The sliding housing(200) performs two step longitudinal sliding movement for opening or closing a certain region while continuing to maintain facing the main body housing. The sliding housing(200) opens or closes the first region on an upper face of the main body housing via the first sliding movement from a closed position. The sliding housing(200) opens or closes the second region on an upper face of the main body housing via the second sliding movement from a closed position.
