The catalytic combustion burner made from a porous material is designed to cooperate with a wick (5) that will carry a combustible composition to the burner (13) that penetrates into the pores of the said porous material, and comprises a peripheral zone (16) that supports a catalyst (7) and that surrounds a central zone (18) without a catalyst forming a vaporization zone, the peripheral zone (16) and the central zone (18) being located in the upper part (13b) of the burner (13). The burner (13) has a tapered peripheral surface (13a) flaring upwards.
