DATA COMMUNICATION PROTOCOL

A data communication protocol is provided to remove standby time for renegotiation by using a method to make a server not request a client to try negotiation again when servers can not accommodate protocol requested by the client. In a network computing environment, communication including data discriminating a first data communication protocol from a second data communication protocol is transmitted from a client(202) to a server(204). A server unable to perform communication through the second data communication protocol responds to the data indicating the first communication protocol, and a server able to perform communication through the second communication protocol is formatted to respond to the data indicating the second communication protocol. Communication from a corresponding server is handled by calling a driver handling communication through the second protocol.
