A method and an apparatus for printing a picture on a label surface by using a pulse according to the rotation and driving of a disc medium are provided to accurately print the picture for which a user wishes without redesigning a disc recording apparatus or increasing cost. A control unit adjusts a rotary speed of a driving motor to maintain a linear speed in a current position of a beam as a predetermined speed on the basis of the rotary speed of the driving motor of a disc medium, and detects a pulse reflected from a line of a radial direction on a label surface of the disc medium. The control unit, synchronized with the detection of the pulse, starts the input of a recording beam according to received data on a current printing line of the label surface. When the pulse is detected again, the control unit moves the recording beam to a next printing line.
