A substrate for an LCD and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to simplify the manufacturing process of the LCD, by forming a conductive black matrix serving as a conductive layer and a black matrix on a rear surface of the substrate through a single process. A plurality of pixel regions(P) are defined on an insulating substrate. Color filters(351,352,353) are formed on a first surface(350) of the insulating substrate correspondingly to the pixel regions. A conductive black matrix(364) is formed on a second surface of the insulating substrate. The conductive black matrix has openings corresponding to the pixel regions. The conductive black matrix is connected to an external case. |
