An operation method for a side-by-side door type refrigerator is provided to open or close refrigerant outlet toward evaporators of freezer and refrigerating compartments according to set conditions of the compartments selectively by using a valve plate of a 3-way valve, thereby effectively controlling refrigerant supply amounts for the evaporators according to the set conditions and precisely controlling temperatures of the compartments. In an operation method for a side-by-side door type refrigerator, a valve plate(23) of a 3-way valve(10) is disposed at a position to open all of first and second refrigerant outlets(21,22) to supply refrigerant to evaporators of freezer and refrigerating compartments when cooling the both compartments. In order to cool the freezer compartment alone, the valve plate opens the first refrigerant outlet for the evaporator of the freezer compartment and close the second refrigerant outlet for the evaporator of the refrigerating compartment, so that refrigerant is supplied to the evaporator of the freezer compartment only. In the other case, the valve plate opens the second refrigerant outlet for the evaporator of the refrigerating compartment. In order to keep temperatures without any further cooling for the freezer and refrigerating compartments, the valve plate closes all the first and second refrigerant outlets and blocks refrigerant supply. |
