OPTICAL MODULATOR AND MOBILE UNIT USING THE PROJECTOR OF OPTICAL MODULATOR

An optical modulator and a mobile terminal having a projector using the optical modulator are provided to modulate light emitted from a light source to generate an image, magnify the image and project the magnified image to a screen to reduce the size and power consumption of the mobile terminal. A mobile terminal includes a controller, a projection controller(140), and an optical modulator(150). The controller outputs a projection control signal and video data. The projection controller receives the video data from the controller and generates an operation control signal in response to the received video data. The optical modulator generates light in response to the operation control signal, modulates the generated light to generate, and scans the image while projecting the image to a screen.
