A system and a method for recognizing a fingerprint in real-time with a camera phone are provided to enable a server to offer an ID confirmation result in real-time by capturing the fingerprint of a target in a place requiring identification with a mobile terminal equipped with a camera, transmitting the captured fingerprint to the server, and making the server compare the received fingerprint with the stored ID information. The mobile terminal(210) is equipped with the small camera, captures the fingerprint of the target through the small camera, stores the captured fingerprint as image data, and transmits the image data to a fingerprint confirmation server(240) through the mobile network(220). The fingerprint confirmation server transmits the ID confirmation result to the mobile terminal by comparing a fingerprint image received from the mobile terminal with the stored first fingerprint image while storing the fingerprint image of the target if the fingerprint image is received from the mobile terminal. A fingerprint confirmation database(250) stores the fingerprint image of the target by linking with subscriber information of the target.
