An apparatus and method for controlling washing of a dish washer are provided to prevent injection hole from be blocked by driving the washing pump using different RPM in washing upper end and lower end, and selectively control the driving pump RPM. An apparatus for controlling washing of a dish washer having upper and lower nozzles and a washing pump(600) is composed of a key input unit(100) chosen by a user for a desired course; a control unit(200) for controlling the washing stroke according to the chosen course through the key input unit and controlling the washing pump to be driven at a different RPM when washing the upper and lower ends at each stroke; and a motor driving unit for driving the washing pump according to the control signal of the control unit. The control unit drives the washing pump at a predetermined first RMP when washing the upper end and controls the washing pump to be driven at a predetermined second RPM with a regular period.
