<p>A device and a method for protecting a compressor of an air conditioner are provided to prevent generation of overload of the compressor in advance and prevent damage of the compressor caused by the overload. A device for protecting a compressor of an air conditioner includes a pressure sensor(210) for detecting pressure of refrigerant discharged from a compressor. A control part(200) calculates super pressure from the detected pressure and outputs a control signal for bypassing the refrigerant according to the calculated super pressure. A control valve(230) opens or closes a bypass path(250) according to the control signal output from the control part for bypassing the refrigerant discharged from the compressor partially to the compressor again. A capillary(240) converts the refrigerant bypassed by the control valve and introduced to the compressor to refrigerant of low temperature and low pressure.</p> |
