An operating method of a communication terminal for reducing consumption of a battery and the communication terminal adopted with the method are provided to measure RSSI(Received Signal Strength Indication) of a transmitted signal when a module for processing multimedia data is enabled, and to set an operation of a communication module as a disabled state according to the measured RSSI. A communication terminal receives a predetermined multimedia data processing request from a user, and enables a processing module necessary for processing multimedia data(101). According to the enabled processing module, the terminal measures RSSI of a signal transmitted between a predetermined base station and a communication module included in the terminal(102). If the RSSI of the signal is less than a predetermined threshold value, the terminal sets an operation of the communication module as a disabled state(103,104). |
