[Also in Division F4] The oil container of a wick burner comprises an inner annular tank 2 and an outer tank 1 communicating through a small opening 7 in a narrow passage 8, and a vent valve 13 which closes automatically to prevent air entering the inner tank 2 when the appliance is lifted or tilted. Oil is poured into the inner tank after removal of a filling cap 6. When the appliance is tilted or lifted the flow of oil from the inner to the outer tank stops. The valve 13 is operated by a spring urged rod 12 which normally abuts the surface in which the appliance rests.</p> |
