A system for transmitting a wire single band OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing)-based UWB(Ultra Wideband) signal through a line for receiving a CATV(Cable TV) broadcasting signal and a method therefor are provided to transmit the single band UWB signal through a CATV receiving line consisting of a coaxial cable and a splitter, thus home networking is available. A wire UWB signal transmitter(600) comprises the followings. A wire/wireless interface module(630) connects a wire/wireless multimedia signal by being connected to plural wire/wireless multimedia home appliances located in each room of a house. A CATV/wire UWB signal combining/separating module(650) combines/separates a wire UWB signal with/from a CATV broadcasting signal by being connected to a CATV receiving line. A wire UWB signal transmitting/receiving module(620) transmits/receives the wire UWB signal by being connected to one port of the combining/separating module(650). A signal conversion module(640) mutually converts the wire UWB signal and the wire/wireless multimedia signal. A control module(610) controls operations of the respective modules(630,650,620,640).
