A method and a device for managing a database are provided to meet diverse versions of programs without recompiling the program in a database application program using the diverse versions of libraries. A sqlplus(Structured Query Language plus) process(220) is operated in an Oracle DBMS(DataBase Management System)(240), receives a data query for the database managed by the Oracle DBMS, transfers the received data query to the Oracle DBMS, and receives/transfers a result of the data query. A pipe(230) provides inter-process communication for interfacing the sqlplus process and a main process(210) requesting the data query.
