A method for changing the number of frames of a camera in accordance with moving speed of a portable terminal and the portable terminal which performs the method are provided to shoot an object by automatically and properly controlling the number of frames according to the moving speed by sensing the moving speed of the terminal when the object is shot as a user moves with the terminal, thus the user can exactly shoot the object without shaking even when the user is moving. Speed of a portable terminal is sensed with the use of an acceleration sensor(201). The speed of the portable terminal is analyzed to control the number of frames of a camera(202,203). An object is shot with the controlled frames(204). When the number of the frames is controlled by analyzing the speed of the portable terminal, the number of the frames is more lowered than the number of fixed frames if the speed is slower than reference range speed.
