A turret tool rest of a lathe for preventing a driving shaft from being rotated when indexing is provided to easily combine the tool holder and prohibit parts from being damaged due to the collision of the driving shaft and the tool holder. A turret tool rest of a lathe for preventing a driving shaft from being rotated when indexing is composed of plural tool holders(30) installed with a rotary tool(20) and radially placed at an indexing wheel(10); a driving shaft(50) combined with the tool holder placed at the processed position in the indexing wheel, arranged to rotate the rotary tool of the tool holder, and rotation-driven by a center shaft(60) rotated by a motor(70), wherein the center shaft is supported by plural bearings in a bearing housing(80) mounted at the body housing; a stoppage groove formed on the perimeter of the center shaft; and an actuator mounted at the bearing housing to move forwardly an operating rod, to fix the center shaft, to move backwardly the operating rod, and to release the fixation of the center shaft.
