PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pull-down image detector which is easy to leave from a pull-down determination when a type of image is switched over from a 2-2 pull-down system to the other system. SOLUTION: The pull-down image detector 100 compares a correlative pattern generated by a correlative pattern generator 2 from a correlation determination signal corresponding to two fields output from an adjacent field correlation determination part 1 with a determination pattern. When a pull-down pattern detector 3 outputs a determination holding signal and a pull-down image detector 4 is in a state of holding an output of a 2-2 pull-down image detection signal, if a chapter change detector 5 outputs a chapter change detection signal, a leaving sensitivity adjustment part 6 raises a leaving sensitivity from the state of holding the output of the 2-2 pull-down image detection signal of the pull-down image detection part 4.
