Disclosed is a stable and highly reliable fuel cell which has high mechanical strength. Also disclosed is a fuel cell which can be easily produced. The fuel cell comprises a porous conductive body (13) as the base, a proton conductive membrane (16) formed on the porous conductive body (13), and a porous conductor layer (17) formed on the proton conductive membrane (16). The proton conductive membrane (16) is composed of a mesoporous thin membrane having periodically arranged pores, and this thin membrane mainly contains a crosslinking structure having a metal-oxygen skeleton at least a part of which is bonded with an acid radical. |
