The control has a housing (1) beneath a rotating knob (2) with axial movement and a graphic surface (4) which projects symbols onto the face (3) of the knob. The graphic display surface (4) is set in the housing beneath the knob and a light guide (5) made as a solid body carries the image from the graphic surface to the front face (7,8) of the knob.
