PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressing apparatus and a pressing method, which apparatus is compact. SOLUTION: The pressing apparatus comprises first and second pressing members 20, 30 which are brought into contact with the surface of a member to be pressed, a driving member 40 which can approach to the surface of the member to be pressed and transmits pressing forces to the first and second pressing members 20, 30, and a converting mechanism 50 for converting the movement of the driving member 40 into the movement of the first and second pressing members 20, 30 so as to separate from each other.
