PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developing apparatus which can detect by a temperature sensor a surface temperature of a heating roller of a heat developing apparatus in a simple and sure process, and moreover, at a low cost. SOLUTION: In a heat developing apparatus which, while conveying a photosensitive heat development recording material along a conveyance passage having a heating means, develops a latent image recorded on a photosensitive heat development recording material heated by the above heating means, a heat roller is used as a heating means and on a part of the surface of the heat roller is provided a reflection factor variable material by temperature, and the heating means of the heat roller is controlled at a predetermined level according to a temperature attainment judgement means which judges whether the heat roller reaches a predetermined temperature from a change of a reflection factor variable material by temperature, and a judgement result of the above temperature attainment judgement means.
