PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep stably a whole data reproducing apparatus without depending on difference of various setting conditions about the data reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: A PLL part 31 converts non-synchronous sampling data supplied from an AGC/DCC part 4 to synchronous sampling data conforming to algorithm corresponding to PR(1, -1) or PR(1, 0, -1). A PRML part 33 detects a channel bit column corresponding to a RLL recording code from the synchronous sampling data conforming to algorithm corresponding to PR(1, -1) or PR(1, 0, -1) and offers for sync sensing/decoding part 34. A switching discrimination control part 32, for example, discriminates switching of algorithm utilized by the RLL part 31 and the PRML part 33 based on information from the PLL part 31, and provides the discriminated result tothe PLL part 31 and the PRML part 33 as switching discrimination information chg.
