A multi-functional skipping rope using an afterimage effect is provided to produce the skipping number, character or photo, etc. in the air over user's head by means of the afterimage effect generated by a switched-on or off LED according to the pre-input afterimage pattern so as to maximize the exercise effect. The multi-functional skipping rope using an afterimage effect comprises: two handles(2), in one of which a controller and a power supply are built; a rope string(3), both ends of which are connected respectively to an each ring bearing of the handles(2) so as to be rotated in an engaged manner with the rotation motion of the handles(2); a light emitting display(4), which is arranged in the center of the rope string(3), and in which many LEDs(6) are built; an On/Off and mode switch(7), arranged in an outer circumference of one of the handles(2); a speaker(8), arranged next to the switch(7); and a rotor, inserted respectively into the handles(2) so as to connect the ring bearing and the rope string(3) with each other.
