PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizing apparatus which is safe because there is no concern to visually observe the radiation of ultraviolet rays in spite of a relatively simple structure and imparts an excellent sterilizing effect to circulating air by the irradiation with ultraviolet rays. SOLUTION: The sterilizing apparatus is constituted so that an ultraviolet irradiation source 2 is mounted in a hollow cylindrical apparatus main body 1, an air fan 21 is arranged in the vicinity of one end of the apparatus main body and an adjusting lid 31, which reduces the pressure loss of the circulating air and blows the circulating air so as to allow it to more approach the ultraviolet irradiation source 2, is provided in the vicinity of the other end of the apparatus main body. Further, the adjusting lid 31 is constituted of three lids, that is, an upper lid 32, an intermediate lid 33 and an inner lid 34 and air holes are provided to the upper, intermediate and inner lids so as to prevent the leak of ultraviolet rays from the outside of the upper lid.
