PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejector which can eject a desired liquid drop without varying a voltage applied to a pressure generation means even if the physical properties of liquid are varied. SOLUTION: The liquid ejector 1 comprises a liquid ejection head 2 having a piezoelectric element 23 forming a meniscus of liquid in a nozzle 11 and a means 19 for applying an electrostatic voltage V<SB>C</SB>to the liquid in the nozzle 11, an operation control means 25 for controlling application of a voltage V<SB>D</SB>for driving the piezoelectric element 23 and application of the electrostatic voltage V<SB>C</SB>by the electrostatic voltage application means 19, and a counter electrode 3 opposing the liquid ejection head 2 wherein liquid L is ejected by electrostatic attraction generated between the counter electrode 3 and the liquid L in the nozzle 11 to which the electrostatic voltage V<SB>C</SB>is applied by the electrostatic voltage application means 19, and the operation control means 25 controls the electrostatic voltage application means 19 to vary the electrostatic voltage V<SB>C</SB>based on the physical property value of the liquid L.
