PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of the discharge operation for liquid droplets by suppressing erosion of a substrate by a liquid, and also preventing great deformation of a discharge opening forming member due to its absorption of the liquid even when used for a long period of time. SOLUTION: The liquid ejecting head comprises the substrate 11 where a plurality of heaters 16 are formed, a plurality of discharge openings 17 formed correspondingly to the heaters 16 to discharge ink droplets, a liquid passage 13 formed communicating with each discharge opening 17 and having the heaters 16 set at its internal wall face, and a supply port 14 formed penetrating the substrate 11 to communicate with the liquid passage 13. The whole internal wall face of the supply port 14, and a part of the internal wall face of the liquid passage 13 are covered with the same protecting layer 15. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
